AG Complaint Generator

New York's Real Estate Finance Bureau accepts written complaints about offering-plan violations, sponsor misconduct, and condo / co-op governance failures. Fill in the facts below; we produce a structured letter you can review, edit, and submit.

BEFORE YOU FILE

Read this first.

The AG REFB has approximately five lawyers and receives hundreds of complaints per year. Most complaints do not result in enforcement action. A well-structured complaint with primary-source citations is substantially more likely to receive a response than a free-form narrative.

This tool produces a letter you will submit. We do not store, transmit, or read what you enter — everything happens in your browser. We are not your lawyer; this is not legal advice. If you have a live dispute, consult counsel before filing.

Tell us what happened.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Three submission paths.

The AG REFB does not have a dedicated complaint portal for condo/co-op governance matters. Use whichever of these channels fits your facts. For maximum effect, send to all three.

  1. Real Estate Finance Bureau direct: mail to NY State Attorney General, Real Estate Finance Bureau, 28 Liberty Street, 21st Floor, New York, NY 10005. Include your generated letter, evidence attachments, and a cover sheet listing your contact information.
  2. Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection: file at ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds/file-consumer-complaint for managing-agent-fee and disclosure issues.
  3. Your state legislators: send a courtesy copy to your assembly member and senator. Their office will frequently forward and ping the AG for a response. Find them at nysenate.gov and nyassembly.gov.
